In a world characterized by upheaval and conflicts, the importance of humanitarian aid has become clear. However, delivering aid in complex and often contentious situations presents challenges, especially significant when considering the principle of impartiality.

Join Nathaniel Raymond, Rebecca Wolfe, and Pia Wanek for a thought-provoking conversation about the critical issues surrounding humanitarian aid and intervention in conflict zones. They will examine the challenges and principles associated with maintaining impartiality amid ongoing crises, and center on recent global events, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the civil war in Sudan, and the Israel-Hamas conflict. About the Speakers

Nathaniel Raymond

Executive Director, Humanitarian Research Lab, Yale School of Public Health

Nathaniel Raymond is the executive director of the Humanitarian Research Lab at Yale University. He specializes in the investigation of war crimes, including mass killings and torture. His team recently released a report detailing Russia’s abduction of Ukrainian children titled “Russia's Systematic Program for the Re-Education and Adoption of Ukrainian Children.”

Rebecca Wolfe

Senior Lecturer and Executive Director of International Policy & Development at University of Chicago

Rebecca J. Wolfe is a leading expert in political violence, conflict, and violent extremism, serving as a Senior Lecturer at the Harris School for Public Policy at the University of Chicago. She is also an associate at the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts.

Pia Wanek

Chief Executive Officer, DT Institute

Pia Wanek is a leader in international development and humanitarian assistance specializing with 20 years of experience in policy and strategy development, project management and program design, and strategy development in government and in the non-profit sector.
